To the Cerro Gordo Schools’ Community:
The rising number of COVID-19 cases across the state and in our area have prompted some county health departments to suggest that schools in their counties move to remote learning. We have and continue to monitor COVID-19 cases and related data in our district very closely. As you know, we have twice moved to remote learning in the Jr/Sr High School when the number of COVID-19 cases and related data prompted us to do so, in consultation with the DeWitt-Piatt Bi-County Health Department. Moving forward, if the COVID-19 related data within our district should indicate a need for us to move to remote learning, we certainly will, as shown in the past. We will continue our ongoing consultations with the DeWitt-Piatt Bi-County Health Department in arriving at those important decisions.
Our district offers remote learning for all families that feel that option is best. We have worked diligently to more adequately socially distance desks to minimize the “close contacts” issue that afflicts many other school districts. In closing, it is imperative that everyone does their part in trying to stop the spread of COVID-19. This includes what we teach the students daily: wearing masks, frequent hand washing, staying home when symptomatic and social distancing. Thank you to the Cerro Gordo schools’ community for your support and for doing your part in helping to keep our students, staff and community as safe as possible.
