About the PSAT/NMSQT

About the PSAT/NMSQT

In October Juniors will have the opportunity to take the Pre-SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. Juniors who have excelled in academics an/or who typically perform at a high level on standardized tests should consider taking the test, especially if their parents work for a company that sponsors a scholarship tied to the outcome. Only students who have taken the PSAT/NMSQT in the fall of their junior year are eligible for these corporate scholarships.

The link below provides valuable information about the test itself. It also provides a list of companies that have scholarships available. The test not only makes the student eligible for these scholarships but also launches him or her into the National Merit Scholarship competition. This competition is rigorous; however, students who score exceptionally well on the test could qualify. The link below also has a list of colleges and universities that have scholarships available for students who have taken the PSAT-NMSQT and performed at an exceptional level nationally.

If you have questions about the PSAT-NMSQT, please contact Mr. Willard in the Guidance Office.
