Mr. Schonert

This is my 4th year as a teacher at Cerro Gordo and my 5th year as a teacher in total. As the high school social studies teacher, I teach courses in American History, World History, and Civics. I also teach various electives that change every school year. This school year, those electives are Geography and Psychology. 

I grew up in the small rural town of Fairmount, IL, which is found in between Champaign and Danville. I received my teaching degree from Eastern Illinois University. In my time as a student and a teacher, I’ve only ever been a part of schools in small rural communities, such as Cerro Gordo, which is something I am proud of!

At Cerro Gordo, I have also worked as a coach. In previous years. I coached for two years on the Jr. High Track team. This school year, I will be an assistant coach for the Jr High Girls Basketball team.
